Swine Flu deaths have given jitters to the people in Maharashtra. The death toll in Mumbai Metropolitan region due to H1N1 virus has already reached six. A pregnant woman from Bhandup succumbed to the disease. It is time to take all precautionary measures and ensure that an epidemic does not spread in the state. As we do not have good hospitals equipped with beds and medicines, the victims are running from pillar to post. There are now several suspected cases reported from the city and it is high time BMC work round the clock and attend the cases properly and on a war footing basis. Swine Flu is a common mosquito-borne viral infection that causes severe flu-like illness and proves lethal if not properly attended and lead to haemorrhagic fever. It is dangerous and if the people show the symptoms and tests positive, then adequate care must be taken. The symptoms are very clear and BMC should act immediately. It is time to vaccinate more and more people during the summer months to avoid spreading of the disease and provide hygienic civic amenities to withstand the threat of swine flu. It is time to clear all garbage debris before the onset of monsoon rains.
