In a major goof up, the Uttar Pradesh Board has landed itself in a major soup as the education board issued an admit card with cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun’s picture on it. The board issued the admit card to a student of an inter-college in Agra.
The student’s name appears to be Arjun Singh and his parents are Ramniwas and Shrimati Devi. All correct and even attested by the teen’s school – Ankur Inter College, Durga Nagar – which apparently failed to notice that the photo was not of their student.
With a day to go for the commencement of exams, the UP board has been facing flak after a passport-size photo of Arjun was found pasted on an admit card with the registration number 0025488. The card also mentions the names of Arjun’s parents as Ramniwas, Shrimati Devi.
According to sources: “It’s a nexus of education mafia with private and public colleges operating in the entire state. Scores of admit cards with fake photographs have been pasted on admit cards, so that during examination someone else can appear for paper- ensuring that the actual candidate is passed. You can paste even Hafiz Saeed photo and no one will cross check at examination center, as there are no photographs printed or pasted on attendance sheet of examination center.”
“The entire system is managed. And even if by chance, flying squad caught the impersonator during exam, than they won’t be able to establish his identity as the picture in admit cards are of some different person. For each such fake admit cards, candidates pay up to Rs. 20,000- 30,000 to college administration.”
Meanwhile, District inspector of schools in Agra Dinesh Kumar said, “A committee has been setup in the matter to probe it. Though we have found that, there is not a single photo in the attendance sheet of the examination center to cross check the student’s identification, where candidate Arjun other students will give their exam.”
For once, after photographs of the admit card were leaked on social media, the netizens thought they had found the junior Tendulkar’s doppelganger. However, according to media reports, there have been lots of cases in the state in which admits cards were issued with fake photographs to facilitate cheating in exams.
