The global Islamist extremist movement in India

India has ordered several states to be on high alert in response to a video in which Al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri announced the formation of a branch of his militant group in India and its neighbourhood. The Home Ministry has issued an advisory to all states and asked the Intelligence Bureau to assess the authenticity of the 55-minute video, in which Zawahiri described the formation of the “Al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent” as glad tidings for Muslims “in Burma, Bangladesh, Assam, Gujarat, Ahmedabad, and Kashmir” and said the new wing would “rescue Muslims there from injustice and domination.” Al-Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri has launched a new branch of the global Islamist extremist movement which he says will reinvigorate and expand its struggle in the Indian sub-continent.

Many published those videos on youtube, but later on, all were removed from there. The video looks like a C-grade bhojpuri movie. Indian Muslims are well mature and educated to pay heed to such lunatic preaching. For those who did listen and watch this video, they would have clearly understood that the recordings is done from loudspeakers that’s why there is echo whereas this group is standing, seemingly in an isolated place. The action of reader no way matched the tone of the speaker. Then it focuses on a white-bearded Zawahiri, in a white turban and glasses, against the backdrop of a brown floral curtain and desk with hardback books and a tin holding ballpoint pens and prayer beads. Umar also speaks in the video — using the Urdu language of Pakistan rather than the Egyptian doctor Zawahiri’s native Arabic — along with a new group spokesman identified as Usama Mahmoud.

Indians need to equip their intelligence system by all means possible, they also need to be accurate in arrests. Many a times, innocent people have been arrested and criminals remain at large to strike again. These clowns are probably not going to survive the war in Afghanistan; if they do manage to somehow return back, most will suffer with severe PTSD. They are dangerous because they are so irrational that we cannot rationally predict their actions, though it is worth investigating why is it that only the educated Muslim youth are going to join these crazy jihadists. Coward so called terrorist uses innocent victims to kill innocents no matter which religion they belongs.

Gujarat riots were reported extensively. It did create an image that all Hindus are against Muslims. We have hard core fundamentalists in all religions. And it is our responsibility to do whatever we can (lawfully), to prevent fundamentalists from breaking social harmony of our country. Radicalisation of young educated Muslims is becoming a cause for the world’s concern. It is the Islamic world that is paying the price. From Nigeria, Somalia, Algeria to Pakistan. In the UK, it came to light about schools being taken over under Trojan program introducing Islamic ideologies. Despite the USA being the major target of Al Qaeda, it is almost free of terrorist attacks mainly because of their intelligence being highly effective. It is only possible by close intelligence exchange between countries affected by Islamic terrorism and in this case India should cooperate with Pakistan, Afghanistan and Arabic countries. Above all Indian intelligence should be able to use modern technology to preempt any terrorist activities. It’s no way an Islamic message for Muslims in India.

Al-Qaeda is active in Afghanistan and Pakistan, where its surviving leadership are thought to be hiding out, but Zawahiri said “Qaedat al-Jihad” would take the fight to India, Myanmar and Bangladesh. Founded by Osama bin Laden, who was killed in Pakistan by US commandos in May 2011, Al-Qaeda has long claimed leadership of the jihadists fighting to restore a single caliphate in Muslim lands. But, since the death of its figurehead, it has been somewhat eclipsed, first by its own offshoots in Africa and the Arabian Peninsula, and now by the Islamic State jihadist group fighting in Iraq and Syria.

In launching “Qaedat al-Jihad in the Indian sub-continent,” Zawahiri may be attempting to recapture some of the limelight for his group and to exploit the existing unrest in Kashmir and Myanmar. He said the group would recognise the overarching leadership of the Afghan Taliban leader Mullah Muhammad Omar, and be led day-to-day by senior Pakistani militant Asim Umar. When the so called minority feel so depressed about the treatment they get from the government, why don’t just they think about the majority, who were depressed even after being the so called majority? It is not religion which divided the people of India, instead it was the political parties across the country who wanted the people to get divided, fight each other, so that they forget who ruled whom. Any religion, which encourages the so called jihad, should remember that the majority is so secular in our country and that is the only reason why the minorities are still living in peace, the more you wound the majority, knowingly or unknowingly, you will fetch more jihadis from the majority as well; they should not forget it. The 55-minute video begins with stock footage of the late bin Laden giving a sermon, before focusing on a satellite map of southwest Asia, the Middle East, the Indian sub-continent and the Horn of Africa. While the Al Qaeda is very much at home in the Afghanistan-Pakistan border area, due to influential contacts and a long presence there, it is a minnow compared to local militant groups in terms of manpower and regional knowledge.
