UP Police released video grabs of suspected killers of slain NIA Officer Tanzil Ahmed

The Uttar Pradesh Police on Tuesday released the grabs from CCTV footage of two suspected killers of National Investigating Agency (NIA) officer Tanzil Ahmed.

The Uttar Pradesh Police has accessed a video footage of the wedding that was attended by the officer before he was shot dead. The investigating agencies have scanned the video and zeroed in on two men who they claim could be the killers.

The police are hoping that they will have some concrete leads in the case soon. “We are looking at all angles, including terror angle, hopefully in the next 48 hours we will have something concrete,” said Javeed Ahmad, the Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police.

He mentioned that two weapons were used to attack the NIA officer including a 9 mm pistol which is a banned firearm. “A .32 bore weapon and a 9 mm pistol were used by the assailants,” he said.

“We have zeroed down on two unidentified guest present in marriage and still verifying their relation with the families. No identity is stable shed till now,” said Daljeet Singh Chaudhary, ADG, Law and Order.

Police is also trying to find out CCTV footage of Shaheen Bagh area to confirm whether Tanzil was followed by someone in recent days before murder.

In addition to questioning more than 100 persons in the area to find out bikers, police has also been interrogating local gangs to ascertain if it was an act of hired killing.

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi also reacted over Ahmed’s murder and demanded justice for the slained officer.

“Brutal murder of NIA officer Tanzil Ahmad investigating key terror cases including Pathankot is extremely shocking,” Gandhi tweeted.
