Wink of an eye

Winking is a form of facial expression in which one eye is closed and the other is left open for a short amount of time. Not everyone can wink and more often than not, person can only wink one eye comfortably. Typically, a wink is a gesture to let you in on something, like some one’s intention or understanding. If someone is teasing or simply flirting with someone, even if it is you, the wink lets you know that is indeed teasing or simple flirting that is going on without tipping others off. Eye wink is used between brothers and sisters as a code language to deny something from the back of the face to their friends or even close relatives. A person can show an eye wink action to deny payment of a loan to a third person, but a layman take it otherwise and handover the cover having the amount in a fine gesture thinking that it is to be paid and denied as the eye wink denotes.

Valentine’s Day opened up the Pandora’s Box to know the real meaning of an eye wink between lovers. If he starts holding your gaze and making frequent eye contact, this can mean that the winker has romantic intentions. Despite its common interpretation, a wink can also be a sign of trust. A friend winks at you to keep a secret, which means that he trusts you to keep it confidential. A wink can be flirty, friendly or an acknowledgment of an inside joke between two people. However, in the virtual work, a wink typically conveys interest. If someone winks at you on a dating website, he’s letting you know that he likes your profile — or maybe just the photos you posted.

South Indian cine actor Dhanush’s Kolaveri Kolaveri Di was one of the first viral sensation with many likes and people were repeatedly seeing the video and went to extent of mugging up the lyrics to sing in other languages also. Now Priya Prakash Varrier has become a sensation in 2018 on the eve of Valentine’s Day. Thus she stacks up against other overnight Internet successes.

Similar to a wink in real life, the winky face is more than just a simple smile — it can mean that what you have just said is a complete lie or even that you would like to do something a little bit more than just deliver a letter into some one’s letter box. For me, it mostly refers to the age old and rather cheesy. In all, a wink is a facial expression made by briefly closing one eye. A wink is an informal mode of non-verbal communication usually signalling shared hidden knowledge or intent. The dancing talent can help you to come out with a natural eye wink as the dances like Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi and other dances stress the importance of an eye contact in the best way possible.

For some it is a face that launches thousands of fans, but for Malayalam actress hopeful Priya Prakash Varrier it was her wink, her dramatic eyebrows and her cheeky flirtatious mannerisms that catapulted her into an overnight Internet sensation. The Malayalam song made a sensation like Dhanush’s Kolaveri Kolaveri Di and became an overnight success.

Priya Prakash Varrier’s social media accounts on Twitter and Facebook have also received an instant blue tick mark, which in today’s times indicate that she has truly arrived on the social scene. It is safe to say that she has transformed winking into a desirable flirting tool and an art form.

Even this news has become a political issue, with one person who likes all things about the movie has filed a petition since he believes the song is a form of an insult. What can we say about all these developments? Where is India going?

One thing is sure. Winking is sort of an invitation for the obvious. Not to be appreciated or encouraged. Why then this Kolaveri Di about Priya’s eye winking.
