Altogether 10 persons were arrested from North Andaman island on suspicion of being Bangladeshis illegally residing in India using fake documents, police said on Tuesday.
The 10 persons, all men, were arrested from Diglipur area on Monday evening, Diglipur police station SHO Mahesh Yadav said.
Diglipur is a tourist spot around 325 km from there.
“The arrested persons claimed that they were from West Bengal. They had shown documents such as ration cards and voter cards but they are fake,” Yadav said.
They would be brought to Port Blair from North Andaman, he said.
