Mumbai cricketer Pranav Dhanawade created history after becoming the first batsman to score 1000 runs in a single innings. Pranav remained unbeaten on 1009 in an interschool tournament against Arya Gurukul school organised by Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). The 15 year old teenager is the son of an autorickshaw driver. He achieved this feat by facing 323 deliveries at a strike rate of 312.38 which included 129 fours and 59 sixes. He played for a total of 395 minutes. Thus Pranav has become an inspiration for youth who aim to make it big in the cricketing world.

The epic knock ended when his school declared at 1465, which is also a world record. His school went past Victoria’s 1107 against New South Wales made way back in 1926. Pranav now holds the record for the highest individual score in any form of cricket, bettering AEJ Collins’ 628 not out for Clark’s House against North Town in 1899 in the UK.

“My teachers have helped me a lot and now I want to play the Ranji Trophy. I have always been a big-hitter. When I started I never thought about breaking the record. The focus was never that I just played my natural game which is to attack from the word go,” said Pranav Dhanawade.

Pranav’s father Prashant Dhanawade said, “We are really happy that he breaks every record. It’s not been an easy journey.”

“There have been lots of problems, because we don’t have a ground in Kalyan, there’s no cricket development there. It’s only played in Mumbai. Maybe after he completes his 1000 runs, the talent in Kalyan also comes into focus. There are no sponsors as well. Hope all these problems get fixed,” he added.

Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar congratulated Pranav for his outstanding knock and tweeted, “Congrats #PranavDhanawade on being the first ever to score 1000 runs in an innings. Well done and work hard. You need to scale new peaks!”

The mammoth score was in reply to their rivals’ paltry score of 31 all out in 17 overs, at the Vaylengar ground at Kalyan in neighbouring Thane district.

During the course of his innings on Monday, he went past the highest individual score of 546 in Indian schools cricket standing in the name of another Mumbai cricketer, Prithvi Shaw of Rizvi Springfield made against St Francis D’Assissi in the Harris Shiled game in 2013.

Former Indian cricketer, Mohammad Kaif tweeted, “First man to experience nervous 999!! Well done #PranavDhanawade , you scored almost what complete #SA team did during test series!”

Maharashtra Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis ‏tweeted, “What an amazing inning; Incredible… 323 balls & 1009 not out… Congratulations
#PranavDhanawade ! Proud of you! Keep striking.”

After Pranav’s feat, Maharashtra government announced that it will bear coaching and education expenses of the Mumbai U-16 cricketer.
