Address our nation’s problems first

Prime Minister Modi’s Davos speech was old wine in a new bottle and was more of an election speech than anything else. He is a brilliant orator and one is mesmerised to hear him speak but ground realities are different and he should be addressing our nation’s problems on home turf before talking about global issues at international business forums. Booming stock markets which are driven by liquidity are wrong indicators that our economy is doing well.

Inflation, unemployment, corruption, price rise etc. are challenging problems facing by the nation today which need to be addressed urgently but political parties sadly would get into election mode with parliamentary elections scheduled next year. PM Modi is a hard working person and his integrity and honesty though cannot be questioned! But he needs proper execution of key programmes. Demonetisation and GST, we all know, were badly executed and it would be a while before its benefits are realised.

Davos, Switzerland is a picturesque setting for holidays but Business Economic Forums there have no meaning if speeches and debates get lost in the chilling chimes once political leaders and business tycoons leave the beautiful city!
