Selfies, item numbers, stand up comedy. The opening episode of ‘Bigg Boss 8’ was a complete entertainer. Host Salman Khan opened the show with contestants Karishma Tanna and Sonali Raut. A veteran on the Bigg Boss stage by now, Khan smoothly operated the show introducing 15 contestants turn by turn.
The contestants were then transferred to the Bigg Boss house, which looks like a crash site with an aircraft as a part of the house this season. The set this year has infused interiors of an airline within the set.
Some of the inmates from previous season of the reality show also made an appearance in the pilot episode of ‘Bigg Boss 8’. While Salman’s favourite Elli Evram introduced actor Upen Patel, Armaan Kohli introduced Arya Babbar on the show.
Gutthi aka Sunil Grover performed a small comic act with model Diandra Soares who is one of the inmates this year. Actors Minissha Lamba, Puneet Issar, Karishma Tanna and Deepshikha Nagpal are part of the show as well.
Dressed as a pilot, Salman kept all the introductions crisp and welcomed each of the inmates to the house. He compared Siberian model Natasa Stankovic to Elli and obliged the model with a selfie minutes before she entered the house. Perhaps to raise a few eyebrows right in the beginning of the show, Arya Babbar stated he would miss “sex and pizza the most” while staying inside the house.
After the introductions, Upen Patel, who’s making quite a name already as a famous ladies man, struck up a conversation with women contestants. He even gave one of them a nickname. The first day after the grand opening saw inmates sleeping on the chairs inside the aircraft and waking up to the song, ‘Yeh kahaan aa gaye hum’ (nice touch, that). The day started on high note with most contestants behaving cheerfully and some wondering if they will get their luggage back.
Sparks flew between Upen and Sukirti as they seem to enjoy each other’s company more than that of others. From private conversations to already keeping nick names for each other, (Upen started calling Sukirti, “Sukku”), looks like these two clearly are heading somewhere.
