With just a few hours left for first phase of polling for Bihar Assembly elections, Chief Minister and Janata Dal United supremo Nitish Kumar on Sunday evening answered people’s queries on Facebook.
With Nitish being the face of the JDU-Rashtriya Janata Dal-Congress led Mahagathbandhan, he is leaving no stone unturned to woo the voters of Bihar.
While answering a question Nitish said, “The country is governed by the Constitution which has made provisions for affirmative action on the basis of caste. This system has been put together with great care and after great deliberation. In my view, in the present context, this system is apt. But, I am all for inclusive development and the upliftment of those who are economically challenged.”
The JDU supremo also shared the Mahagathbandhan’s seven mantra for Bihar’s development. Nitish said his top priority will be women empowerment, employment generation for youth, complete electrcity, water availability and sanitation in the state.
When asked about his development agenda for the state, Kumar said, “I have repeated time and again, I am driven by my idea of development with justice and the agenda is to make sure that last 10 year of development continues. Bihar has only one growth model, “Development with justice”.
Talking about a Muslim man being killed in Dadri area of Uttar Pradesh following rumours that his family had consumed beef, the Bihar Chief Minister said, “Such event should never happen in our country. I hope all concerned and those who are responsible for enforcing the rule of law will do everything possible to ensure justice to the aggrieved parties.”
“My track record on handling corruption in my government has been in the public domain. I continue to remain fully committed to do everything that is possible to ensure a corruption free government at all levels,” he said.
Earlier this week, Nitish had released the governance agenda of the Mahagathbandhan. He has promised Rs 500 crore venture capital fund for skill development and self employment of the youth. Free WiFi will be provided in all the universities of Bihar.
The voting for the 243-member Bihar Assembly will be on October 12, 16, 28, November 1 and 5. The counting of votes will be on November 8.
