The Celebrity Clasico 2016 (a joint initiative by Cornerstone Sport & GS Worldwide Entertainment) held a charity football match which featured an eclectic mix of Bollywood and sports stars in action at the Andheri Sports Complex in Mumbai.
The main idea behind this friendly match was to generate funds for charitable initiatives with the ‘Virat Kohli Foundation’ and Abhishek Bachchan’s ‘Playing for Humanity’ being the torch bearers for this project.
All Heart FC (skippered by Virat Kohli) and All Stars FC (coached by Abhishek) played out an enterprising 2-2 draw in front of a capacity crowd of 10,000.
It was All Stars who went into a 2-0 lead within 40 minutes thanks to a superb diving header from imminent film director Shoojit Sircar (off Dino Morea’s cross) and an edge of the box pile driver from Antonio Pecora (Ranbir Kapoor’s fitness trainer).
But then come the second half and All Heart FC bounced back in the second half thanks to an opportunistic tap in by Yuvraj Singh and a late goal from KL Rahul post some nimble footwork by Shikhar Dhawan on the left.
Bollywood celebs like Sonakshi Sinha and Shilpa Shetty Kundra who cried themselves hoarse from the sidelines also added to the fun factor.
Also superstar Amitabh Bachchan and Aditya Thackeray lent their support to the two teams as it turned out to be a memorable evening albeit for the right cause. Virat was aptly named Man of the Match for his excellent work rate on the field.
