CGSI organises workshop on enhancing internet safety

The Golden Jubilee celebrations of CGSI (Consumer Guidance Society of India) began on a high with a fascinating and insightful workshop on ‘ Internet Safety’ organised in association with Google and Consumer Voice. Dr. M.S. Kamath of CGSI waxed eloquent on the need to empower the consumer and make him fully aware of his rights and laid strong emphasis on ‘internet safety’ as a critical area for consumer empowerment.

Hemant Upadhyay, Telecom and IT Executive, Consumer Voice in his address said, “Netizens should follow five best practices to prevent data theft in the mobile internet age and era namely better password- atleast one special character, one capital alphabet, one numerical character, 2 step verification, hardware system, do an online security n privacy check periodically and device protection.”

Sachin Dedhia , Cyber Security Expert gave valuable advice on the modus operandi of hackers and noteworthy points on online transaction safety measures. Retention of privacy of user data were also the highlights of his address.

The workshop drew enthusiastic participation from people of all walks of life and a certificate of participation was issued to all individuals. Valuable tips like ‘ Research before downloading’ and ‘accessing sites directly through URLs rather than links ‘ would remain etched in the memory of the participants for long.
