IPL is the reason behind India’s poor show in the Champions Trophy final game and our boys perform only when the stakes are high in monetary terms and not when national pride is at stake. India crumbled like cookies on a perfect batting track, clueless at times of what was happening around them. Never underestimate your enemies be it at the borders or on the cricket field. Too much hype caused damage to our team when everybody including myself thought India would cruise to victory with ease. Pakistan played brilliantly like soldiers on war and the surgical strike they inflicted on us in clinical fashion meant India suffered its worst ever defeat on the cricket field in recent times. Too much money in cricket has made our boys complacent and high time we change our remuneration system for players who should be paid on the basis of their performance for better results in future. It is truly a mockery that a player who scores a hundred and one who gets out for zero receives equal pay cheque which needs to be altered.
