The Election Commission had given an open challenge to the Political Parties about reprogramming of the Electronic Voting Machines. But it seems as if they are scared to take up the challenge. As compared to the huge hue and cry that they had raised about this issue earlier and now the delay in coming forward to take up the challenge, what are they afraid of? The parties who have raised doubts in the people’s minds about EVMs should come forward and demonstrate practically what they mean. It is accepted that situations have arisen which raise doubts about the EVM. A candidate getting zero votes grabbed headlines. This could be a case of a technical fault. But the parties providing information in the newspapers about how the machines can be manipulated, need to walk their talk now. Both these things have been enough to disillusion the people about these political parties. People will definitely teach a lesson to these parties who make fun of democracy in the next election.
