In a bid to strengthen its workforce, Maharashtra Police has decided to empower all police stations of Thane Commissionerate with free Wi-Fi Internet facility.

The decision was taken after Joister Infomedia Pvt. Ltd, a broadband and gaming service provider company approached senior police officers in Thane and offered its free Wi-Fi Internet service at all police stations, said Ashutosh Dumbre, Joint Commissioner of Police of Thane Commissionerate.

Explaining the need to get connected through internet, Dumbre said, “Its extremely important to get connected with tools of technology at all the time and hence free Wi-Fi facility to our workforce would work as an added advantage.”

We will launched this facility in two phases. In first phase, we are connecting our headquarters with free Wi-Fi facility and in second phase, we would be connecting rest of the 33 police stations across the Thane commissionerate stretching to Kalyan, Ulhasnagar, Bhiwandi etc, Dumbre said.

Joister has already launched its service at 525 locations catering free Internet to over 2.50 lakh registered users across Mumbai, Pune, Thane and Navi Mumbai cities.

Earlier, Director General of Police, Pravin Dixit himself inaugurated the Free Wi-Fi service at the Thane Commissionarate office on Saturday and said by using the advanced technology, we can conquer increasing crime.
