Idea Cellular beat estimates by reporting a strong jump in its quarterly profit, helped by an increase in its margin and average revenue realisation per customer.
Idea said it profit rose to Rs. 589.8 crore in the March quarter compared to Rs. 467 crore in the December quarter, a 26 per cent rise quarter on quarter.
Its revenue in the quarter ended March 31 rose to Rs. 7043.8 crorevsRs. 6,613 crore in the previous quarter.
During the fourth quarter, Idea saw its ARPU (Average Revenue Per User) increase to Rs. 173 from Rs. 169 in the previous quarter even as average revenue per minute fell 2.8 per cent to 43.6 paisa compared to 44.9 paisa in the previous quarter.
Idea also reported an EBITA margin increase to 31.7 per cent in the December quarter vs 31.1 per cent in the previous quarter.
The telecom operator’s non voice revenue share grew to 16.5 per cent from 16.1 per cent in the December quarter.
