Beef festivals were celebrated in numerous places in Kerala as a protest against the banning of trading of animals for slaughter in the animal market. Kerala has declared that the law passed by the centre will not be implemented in the state. It is a feeling in the people’s mind that oppose the laws of the nation is possible by organizing a get-together in large numbers. And the nation has also seen how these people’s movement can be skillfully used to achieve this objective. The movement in Kerala can be called opposition for the sake of opposition. Some citizens at certain levels agree to the decision and at other level do not. As the decision has been publicly violated there is a question of people taking the law in their hands. And when the law is connected by an umbilical cord of a religion then it becomes all the more sensitive and the opposition becomes all the more intense and bitter. The illegal activity has to be strictly restricted and the law must be implemented. And for this there has to be a dialogue between the Government and the administration.
