India’s Mohammad Anas, Srabani Nanda and Ankit Sharma book their flight to Brazil

India have not been impressive in the Olympics during the past, but there are hopes of a better medal finish from the nation, which created history of late. India will send more than 100 athletes for the first time in the Olympics.

Mohammad Anas qualified for the Rio Olympics 2016 in the 400m discipline. Anas was brilliant in the 400m on the second day of Polish Athletics Championship at Bydgoszcz, as he had to come up with a minimum timing of 45.40s to qualify. The quartermiler was determined to represent India in Rio, and came with the exact timing of 45.40, providing his fans a reason to cheer.

This was a special moment for the Kerala athlete, who also managed to break his own national record of 45.44s as well. Anas has become the 21st track and field athlete from India to qualify.

Anas was the not the only athlete to bring laurels, as other sportspersons like Sprinter Srabani Nanda also qualified for women’s 200 metre event. Long jumper Ankit Sharma also booked his ticket to Rio.

Nada qualified for the Olympics after an inspiring run in the 200m spirit event, with a timing of 23.02 seconds. However, the field in the 200m is going to be highly competitive in Rio Olympics, and Nanda would be pleased if she even reaches the event final.

Madhya Pradesh’s long jumper Sharma also qualified after taking a huge leap of 8.17m to see his dreams come true and represent India in the Olympics.
