Salary hikes of a few million rupees is petty matters for an multi-billion dollar market cap company like Infosys and founder Narayan Murthy should not interfere in the working of such a large organization from outside. Founder chairman Murthy should either come on board of Infosys or let the management do its job as Infosys has transformed into a market leader under Vishal Sikka’s leadership in an environment where other IT companies are struggling due to various constraints.
Intentions of Narayan Murthy may not be wrong but we are today living in an era where good organisational skills come at a price and one has to pay huge sums to key personnel to prevent attrition levels in the software sector. Also, while Infosys was founded by Murthy and his group of friends for which they deserve credit for making it into a great institute, today it is owned by an consortium of FII’s and DII’s who should be taking the call on the strength of their shareholding.
I am sure, Murthy would still be heard at Infosys as such is his stature but he should not wash dirty linen in public through media but talk directly to the management of Infosys.
