Lose weight and feel better

The internet is buzzing with news of Anant Ambani losing a whopping 108 kg in 18 months and that too through a natural and safe process. Anant’s fitness regime included a 21 km walk, yoga, weight training, functional training and high-intensity cardio exercises. He also followed a zero-sugar, low-carb diet, with adequate fat and protein. The young Ambani has been known to suffer from chronic asthma, and it is said that the medication had led to his weight gain. But Anant was apparently determined to shed the extra flab by his 21st birthday, and he has. The uphill task that spanned over 500 days included exercising for four-five hours daily.

There are many TV artists, models and Bollywood actors, who all of sudden thought they are no longer happy with their physique. You work in fashion and fashion means change. If you don’t like your image, you only have to change it. Same goes with me too though I am not part of film or glam industry, but coming down to 56 from 93 was great task. I put on loads of weight due to multiple surgeries after severe accident. I was given lots of medicines and steroids which never helped me shedding my weight, with ailing body and chronic medical history. I was always over weight and fragile too. Lack of will power made it more difficult for me. One fine day, I just wanted to give make over to myself and got admitted to naturopathy for detoxing, and there I got introduced to proper diet trainer. When I lost my first 1 kilogram, my happiness knew no bound, here came the motivation and today I changed completely.

Nowadays looking slim-trim has become a trend. For women as well as men, fashion is the healthiest motivation for losing weight. It is not a good idea to wait until you are ill or unhappy before going on a diet. It is time for a change that was all.

The basic principle of my diet is no fats and no sugar. You also have to eat certain types of food at certain times of the day, give up sugar, cream and rice, and not drink, apart from litres and litres of water, tea in the morning and strong coffee after lunch – that’s what keeps you going. At the beginning, my skin was not in danger because there was enough fat below it. After four or five months, my skin started sagging due to over loss of weight. Then I started using skin preparations. You must never go to bed without cleansing your skin and putting creams on your face and body. Frequent weight training, little yoga, conscious breathing and walking makes you healthy and lose weight. You have to give yourself orders as if you were a young army recruit. You have to be your own officer and tell the soldier what you want of him; how he must behave, what he must do. It may irritate you but you have no choice.

Some people in the world of fashion think liposuction, surgery, going under knife but believe me it’s really not needed, what is most important is will power to see you changed. It’s not for others but for your own sake maintaining good health is a must. I am sure there are many such success stories but in the recent past Junior Ambani must have motivated many souls to remain in shape.
