Maharashtra wins 3 medals in National School Chess Championship

Maharashtra wins 3 medals AVThree students from Maharashtra have bagged medals at the recently concluded National School Chess Championship at Bhubaneswar in Odisha.

Around 800 players were in the fray from across the country.

Candidate Master (CM) Kush Bhagat from American School of Bombay (ASB) scored 7.5 out of nine rounds to lift his maiden Under-9 National schools title, a media release said here.

CM Suhaani Lohia of Dhirubhai Ambani School made a hat trick of podium finishes in the competition, as she won the silver in the Under-9 category for girls, it added.

The third medal for Maharashtra was a silver in the Under-17 boys category, bagged by Anugraha Jaisingh of Campion School, who has an international rating of 1664.

All three medal winners from the state are from the South Mumbai Chess Academy.
