A 32-year-old man allegedly murdered his wife before committing suicide at their residence in Kandivali on Tuesday.
The victims were identified as Nitin Fundkar and his wife Surekha.
According to police, the couple, who resided in Hanumanagar area under Samatanagar police station limits in Kandivali, had got married eight years ago and had two children.
In the preliminary inquiry, police found the couple’s relationship had soured as Nitin suspected Surekha of having an extra-marital affair and they regularly had arguments.
“Late last night, the couple again had a tiff on the issue and in a fit of rage, Nitin took up a knife and slit his wife’s throat, before hanging himself from the ceiling,” police said.
The couple’s children rushed to their relatives’ house located nearby in morning and narrated the incident, following which the police were informed.
A case has been registered under IPC section 302 (murder), police said.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem and further investigation is on.
