As per an RTI application filed by activist Anil Galgali it was unveiled that Mumbai Metro One Private limited Company (MMOPL) is unwilling to pay the outstanding rent of Rs 28, 55, 51, 410 due to Home Guard department. The firm also has failed to construct the proposed training centre. Galgali had sought information from MMRDA administration about the recent status of the land at Home Guard’s Versova locality and agreement details between MMOPL and MMRDA. MMRDA provided information of agreement and various correspondence that had occurred between MMOPL and MMRDA to him.

Former Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh had called a meeting on 10th December 2007 to discuss the various problems pertaining to Versova- Andheri- Ghatkopar corridor of MRTS project. The project manager of MMOPL then requested to handover 2.4 hectare land at Versova owned by Home Guard on temporary basis for the casting yard. The Central Government sanctioned  Rs 1.99 crore to State Government for constructing training centre on same land. But considering the work of MMOPL the land (2.4 hectare) was temporarily handed over to the MMOPL. During that time Project Manager agreed to construct the training centre on Home Guard land after finishing casting yard work. Under this condition, the land was temporarily handed over to MMOPL on 19 January 2009 and agreement was signed between MMRDA and MMOPL. However, MMOPL continued to get four extensions to complete the work.

MMOPL has paid only Rs 3,97,98,000 till 29th June 2015.  The rent payable to MMRDA by MMOPL for Home Guard land as on 21st  March 2016 including 14%  delayed interest is Rs 28,55,51,410. Anil Galgali has written to Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis and MMRDA Commissioner to take serious cognizance of this cheating by the MMOPL and demanded to lodge FIR against the firm.
