MMRDA has incurred a revenue loss of Rs. 12.16 crore from rentals for a week after Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis gave a nod to waive rent for the Make in India” program held from 13th to 18th February. The program was organised on the MMRDA plot at BKC and conducted by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC).
The issue was brought on the forefront by RTI activist Anil Galgali. On Monday a proposal to waive off Rs 12.16 crores was brought forward in the MMRDA authority meeting. The Chairman and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis cleared this proposal within 2 minutes.
“Often MMRDA makes plots and spaces available for any government agency working towards progressive Maharashtra at a very nominal rate. The Government of India has incurred huge expenditure for advertising of the Make in India week. So when the government is spending so much money why can’t it pay the bill of a department,” asks Galgali.
