New Year: A time to make new promises

New Year’s Day is universally celebrated on January 1. According to the Gregorian calendar, a year completes by December 31 and a new one commences on January 1. In India, New Year is observed in different states on different dates. Celebrations include delightful messages, cheerful wishes, parties, dances, crackers, lighting, new dresses and outings. People plan a lot of resolutions on New Year’s Day. New Year is a time to celebrate the start of something new. It is a time to make new promises, some to be broken and some to be kept. It is also a time to start new friendships and a time to ask for forgiveness from all your enemies. On New Year’s Day, people are happy, laughing, giggling and sharing about events of the past year and those before.
