The BEST strike had caused immense hardships to commuters. The civic body had earlier promised that it would pump in Rs.2000 crore as a subsidy for Best, but that has not happened and that is the root cause for the unrest. As the unions do not believe in the verbal assurances given by the management they need a written deal to end the problem. It is the responsibility of the BMC to give a written acceptance of their demands as the unions are fighting for their rights. As the drivers, conductors, helpers and administration staff work day and night they are entitled for salary as a matter of right. It is a matter of time to bring out a solution to the unending problem.
