One Direction are planning on snubbing the Brit Awards 2016 on Feb. 24 at the O2 in London,despite being nominated for two awards, . The boy band is currently on hiatus after a difficult tour in the past year. They lost Zayn Malik, 23, whosensationally quit the band back in March, 2015, and since then tensions in the band have reportedly been tetchy to say the least.
1D are up for a couple of awards at the British equivalent to the Grammy Awards — Best British Group and Best British Artist Video for their smash-hit “Drag Me Down.” But according to a well-placed insider, should they win it’s unlikely they will receive the awards in person.
“They might be nominated, but they won’t be attending the Brit Awards this year,” a source tells. “When they said they were going on hiatus, they really meant it and they will continue to remove themselves from public engagements for the foreseeable future.”
The source continues that while they’re happy to be taking a well-earned break away from the limelight, there’s a plan in place should they win an award and not be there to collect it.
“All the boys are doing their own thing, and are happy to be away from the spotlight. Should they win their award, someone else will collect it on stage on their behalf. They won’t be there in person.”
