Actor Eddie Redmayne is celebrating after his wife Hannah gave birth to their first child this week.
The Oscar winner, 34, and his PR executive wife, 33, welcomed their daughter Iris Mary Redmayne on Wednesday.
The couple’s spokeswoman told : ‘I can confirm that Eddie and Hannah Redmayne have welcomed their first child.’
The couple wed in Babington House in Somerset just before Christmas 2014 and confirmed they were expecting a baby in January this year.
Just months after their romantic Winter Wonderland-themed wedding, Eddie went on to win the Best Actor Academy Award for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in The Theory Of Everything.
After announcing Hannah’s pregnancy, Eddie admitted they were waiting until their child was born to discover the sex.
The Danish Girl star Eddie told US TV show Extra at the Oscars in February: ‘It’s gonna be a surprise.
‘I was like, “Maybe we should find out” (and) my wife’s like, “We’re not finding out.” She wears the trousers.
‘It’s one of the great surprises that still exists in the world.’
The actor admitted he was feeling nervous in the run-up to the birth: ‘It’s quite a few months away, but we started looking at all the logistics. The list of things you’re meant to get before going to the hospital… it’s a long list of stuff right there!
‘We have this sort of dream of like wooden toys, and all that, and everyone’s like, “Yeah you always start off like that, but you end up with like, iPhones!”‘
Eddie and Hannah started dating in 2012 after previously being friends since their school days.
They first met when the actor was studying at Eton College, while Hannah was boarding at a nearby girls’ school.
However their friendship turned to romance when Eddie invited her to visit him in Italy while he was filming Les Miserables.
