Prajwal Revanna Sent to 14 Days Judicial Custody Over Sexual Abuse Charges 2

In a significant development, former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna has been remanded to 14 days of judicial custody amidst grave charges of rape and sexual abuse against him. On Monday, the 42nd Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) court made this decision, concluding his earlier Special Investigation Team (SIT) custody.

Revanna was previously held by the SIT on May 31, right after his arrival at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport from Germany. During their detention, the SIT conducted an extensive review, gathering critical evidence, and interviewing witnesses related to the case.

The 33-year-old politician, who missed retaining his seat in the Hassan constituency, now faces serious consequences as the court, weighing the evidence from the SIT, deemed it fit to extend his custody. This comes after explicit video evidence surfaced, allegedly linking Revanna to sexual offenses ahead of the recent Lok Sabha polls.

Companies which are ineligible on one hand are eligible on the other hand 4

A kind of miracle has happened in the tender of contracting agencies for the repair/reconstruction of damaged/demolished, main and roadside drains/drain lining for the years 2023–244 and 2024–25 under Zone 6 and 5 of Mumbai Municipal Corporation. RTI activist Anil Galgali has demanded that, while on one hand, ineligible companies have been declared eligible in the second tender, they should be investigated and proper tenders issued again.

RTI activist Anil Galgali has been informed in a reminder sent to the Municipal Commissioner as well as the Additional Commissioner Project that recently the Municipal Corporation issued a tender for ES 489. Of the 5 companies that participated, only three were eligible for the commercial report. Two companies were declared ineligible for some reason.

However, two companies that are ineligible for work code ES 489, namely Swastik and Harshil, are eligible for work code ES 490 and one of them is L1. The business reports of ES 489 and E 490 are viewed with suspicion. Work will be given at a reduced rate of 7 per cent under zone 6 and 18 per cent under circle 5. Now Swastik and Harshil Company have shown readiness to work at a reduced rate of 13 per cent instead of 7 per cent.

According to Anil Galgali, will the quality of work be maintained by this? This is a big question. At one place, the company was ineligible and at another place, it was eligible. If we investigate this, collusion will come to light, and will the work be completed in 2 years or not? It is still impossible to say.

Maharashtra Government Demands Immediate Cancellation of NEET Exam Results Amid Allegations of Injustice 6

The Maharashtra government has called for the immediate cancellation of last month’s NEET exam results, alleging that the outcomes have caused significant injustice to the state’s students.

Aspirants who took the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) on May 5 at 4,750 centers in 571 cities previously alleged that inflated marks have led to an unprecedented 67 candidates earning top ranks, including six from a single exam center in Haryana.

Despite the National Testing Agency (NTA) attributing high scores to changes in NCERT textbooks and grace marks, Maharashtra Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif on Friday alleged, “The NEET exams were probably conducted after taking money. The results show no student from Maharashtra can get admission to MBBS courses in state colleges.”

Mushrif announced plans to inform the National Medical Council (NMC) and suggested that the government might approach the court. NEET-UG is the entrance exam for various medical courses including MBBS, BDS, and others.

Political figures like Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin also criticized the results, citing issues like leaked exam papers and clustering of top scorers at specific centers. They called for a thorough investigation and criticized centralization in the federal system.

CISF Constable Kulwinder Kaur: A Lesson for Loose Cannons?

CISF Constable Kulwinder Kaur: A Lesson for Loose Cannons? 12

In her madness to support the BJP, Kangana not only criticised anyone who spoke out against the government’s policies but also insulted them by calling them terrorists or traitors. To become Modi’s flatterer, she mortgaged her conscience and did whatever came to mind. Her provocative statements and tweets were filled with venom. Most of the time, she engaged in hate speech.

Kangana may have won the election and entered active politics, but it is important to note that people have not forgotten her sins. The daughter of the protesting mother slapped Kangana hard. This is more than just an ideological conflict; it is a battle for self-esteem. The BJP has failed by oppressing farmers, but now the accounts of those who spoke nonsense are being settled.

Newly elected BJP MP Kangana Ranaut entered Chandigarh airport with her staff. During a security check, the constable of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) slapped Kangana on the face before Kangana could realise that the action had its reaction too. The incident happened when Ranaut was in the security check area. Kaur said her mother had participated in the 2020–21 protest by farmers against (now-scrapped) three farm laws.

The CISF constable’s father and brother are farmers. She belongs to a farmer family and for two years she has seen the pain of protesters. Kaur was upset with Kangana over her comment in December 2020 that people were willing to join the protest for as little as Rs 100. Constable never thought that she would get this opportunity in her life. Without fearing the consequences, she took advantage and hit Kangna straight on the face, giving a loud message that no one would be spared.

Kangana took to social media, then filed a FIR against Kaur. Soon after this incident, the CISF constable was suspended. After reaching Delhi, Ranaut fumed about “terrorism rising in Punjab.” After the tight slap, Kangana still does not understand that she has no right to hurt the sentiments of the people. She made a video calling a suspended constable a terror threat.

In 2020, Ranaut misidentified a woman farmer from Punjab who was taking part in the protests and called her Bilkis Bano, an elderly woman who had become one of the faces of the anti-Citizenship Amendment Law (CAA) protests earlier in Shaheen Bagh. This had triggered a much-talked-about exchange on X between her and singer-actor Diljeet Dosanjh.

Then, in February 2021, reacting to support for the protests by international pop sensation Rihanna, Ranaut called the agitators “terrorists” and said they were trying to divide India. Replying to a post on X by Rihanna, Ranaut called the singer a “fool” and said, “No one is talking about it because they are not farmers; they are terrorists who are trying to divide India so that China can take over our vulnerable, broken nation and make it a Chinese colony much like the USA… Sit down, you fool; we are not selling our nation like your dummies.”

When an X user pointed to a 2019 tweet by Ranaut in which she had appeared to express her appreciation for Rihanna, the actor responded, saying she had taken over the account only recently and did not listen to English music much. Both the Rihanna and Rs. 100 posts were later deleted by Ranaut. The farm laws were repealed in December 2021 and days later, the actor’s car was stopped in Punjab’s Kiratpur Sahib by protesters demanding an apology for her statements against farmers. She was allowed to go after she spoke to a few protesters.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) took cognizance of the incident and condemned the actions of the woman CISF constable but they were brutally mute on the insult of an old lady who was agitating for the rights of the farmers. Many members of civil society stood in solidarity with the CISF constables. Some offered her a job and some offered her financial help. The think tanks look at it as a civil war, their reply to the atrocities done by the power players. Kangana was the nastiest among all the BJP trolls. People have started giving befitting replies to these loose cannons. The time has come for leaders of the ruling BJP to learn to be sensitive and humble towards people.

German Court Drops Case Against Tennis Star Alexander Zverev After Settlement 14

A German court on Friday concluded a case against tennis star Alexander Zverev after an agreement to pay fines totaling 200,000 euros ($218,000) and an out-of-court settlement with his former partner, Brenda Patea.

The Berlin district court dismissed the trial with the consensus of state prosecutors and defense attorneys. Zverev agreed to pay 150,000 euros to the state and 50,000 euros to charitable organizations.

Zverev, ranked world No. 4, faced charges of allegedly causing bodily harm to Patea during a May 2020 argument, accusations he has denied. The case came to trial after Zverev contested an earlier penalty order.

Judge Barbara Lüders dropped the case following recent discussions between the parties to end their disputes and focus on co-parenting their child.

Zverev, who is competing in the French Open semifinals, was not present in court. Patea provided testimony in a closed session.

MNS Candidate Abhijit Panse Withdraws Ahead of Crucial Maharashtra Legislative Council Election 20

Abhijit Panse, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) candidate, has officially withdrawn from the fray for the upcoming state legislative council election from the Konkan Graduates’ constituency, a party leader announced on Friday.

Last month, MNS had unveiled filmmaker Panse as their candidate for the legislative council elections scheduled on June 26. “Panse will not be in the fray from the Konkan Graduates’ constituency,” confirmed party spokesperson Sandeep Deshpande.

This development follows a meeting last week between Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and MNS chief Raj Thackeray. BJP MLC Niranjan Davkhare currently represents the constituency and has been renominated. The biennial elections to four legislative council seats—Mumbai Graduates, Konkan Graduates, Mumbai Teachers, and Nashik Teachers—are necessary due to the expiration of terms in July.

The deadline for filing nominations is June 7, with voting on June 26 and results announced on July 1. The Maharashtra legislative council comprises a 78-member house. The Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena has named MLC Anil Parab and J M Abhyankar for the Mumbai Graduates’ and Mumbai Teachers’ constituencies, respectively, while the Congress has nominated Ramesh Keer for the Konkan Graduates’ constituency.

The Shiv Sena has put forward Deepak Sawant for the Mumbai Graduates’ constituency, while Kiran Shelar is the BJP candidate. The BJP is also backing Shivnath Darade, the Maharashtra Rajya Shikshak Parishad candidate, for the Mumbai Teachers’ constituency.

Presently, the Mumbai Teachers, Mumbai Graduates, and Nashik Teachers constituencies are represented by Kapil Patil (JD(U)), Vilas Potnis (Shiv Sena UBT), and independent MLC Kishore Darade, respectively. Among the 78 legislative council seats, the Shiv Sena (undivided) holds 11, NCP (undivided) 9, Congress 8, and BJP 22 seats. Additionally, JD(U), Peasants and Workers Party, and Rashtriya Samaj Paksha have one member each, with four independents and 21 vacant seats.
