The Uttar Pradesh government has imposed a ban on victory processions on Friday.
Chief Secretary Javed Usmani directed officials to enforce the ban strictly.
Usmani also called for a strict vigil in all districts for at least 15 days, or more, after the announcement of the results.
Addressing officials through video conferencing yesterday, Usmani directed them to prevent any tension and violence during counting of votes and celebrations.
The administration would keep an extra vigil on losing candidates to prevent any law and order crisis.
According to media reports, a three-tier security arrangement is in place at counting centres.
The Election Commission has appointed 112 general observers and ten special observers to keep a close eye over the counting.
The most important task for the new government will be to keep unworthy cabinet aspirants away. L.K Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi must not demand for a cabinet berth. If they do so, RSS must snub them and publicly express displeasure about their ambitions. They should function as guides and “margdarshaks”. Joshi can be a appointed as the Vice-chancellor while Advani can head the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya institute or any other similar organization.
There is no capable person possessing good English language skills who can have a dialogue with foreign countries like Pakistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, UAE etc. To interact with Americans you don’t need a tall man, you can have a good secretary of external affairs. Americans are pragmatic people, they can deal with anyone. Subramanian Swamy could have been a an ideal Minister of External affairs but Modi may not choose him. Despite being talented, Swamy’s unpredictability with the mouth may be slightly suspect.
Rajnath Singh can become a good defence minister. He is “ kshatriya” and honest and what more do you need? As a party president, he has already done a good job and there is nothing much he can do. There are reports that Singh wanted Home Ministry. A home minister has to be “ sam daam dand bhed” type and strong man like the stature of Amit Shah. Rajnath is too straight forward and is ideally suited for becoming a Defence Minister. There is no harm in inducting Kiran Bedi as the Home Minister. She can get elected from a seat which Modi may relinquish or through Rajya Sabha route. She is balanced, possesses experience and has been pro-Modi.
Under no circumstances you should seek the support of NCP otherwise you will never be able to control price rise. Suresh Prabhu is a good choice for the Environment Ministry. Why not induct Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar in the cabinet? Some other leader can replace him in the state. Shahnawaz Hussain or Manohar Parrikar could be appointed as the External Affairs Minister. Parrikar was the man who spoke loud and clear on Modi.
External Affairs ministry and Ministry of Industry and Commerce must work closely because these days there is no politics in international matters and it is more about business and commercial interests. One can import technology from Europe, China and Japan. Before Swamy heads overseas, Modi can warn him to refrain from issuing controversial statements. Our country will be governed by good IAS officers, who will be trained, retrained and whose performance will be closely monitored. British had introduced the Indian Civil Services (ICS). Selection to the ICS was largely made through selection and recommendation and similar steps must be undertaken while picking the IAS officers. Seniority and reservation should not be the sole criterion for selection to this post.
Finally, ND Tiwari got married to Ujjwala Sharma mother of his biological son Rohit Shekhar. In Septemeber 2007, Rohit had filed a paternity suit against Tiwari claiming that he was born out of an affair between the Congress leader and his mother Ujjwala. During that period of time, Tiwari claimed all the allegations made against him as baseless and refused to undergo DNA test. Later, he had to comply with the court order and the test revealed that Rohit was his son. In Tiwari’s long-standing paternity tussle with Rohit Shekhar, the Delhi High Court on April 24 had declared Shekhar as Tiwari’s biological son.
Ujjwala Sharma had earlier this month staged a protest outside Tiwari’s residence. Later, she was allowed entry in Tiwari’s house here and had been staying with him since then. ND Tiwari promised Ujjwala Sharma that he would adopt her son to avoid political setback and she agreed. Was it necessary for ND Tiwari to get married at this age or he had taken this decision after the arrival of DNA test reports.
Whatever prompted Tiwari to take this decision but why did Ujjwala accept his proposal? All these years, she has been fighting a battle to give social sanctity to their relationship. It’s really a shameful act. Tiwari was initially reluctant to accept Rohit as his son. After so many decades, Tiwari has tied the knot because it’s obvious that he has already past his prime.
Strict action must be taken against Tiwari for wasting the time in judicial process and wasting tax payers money too. I don’t think he married Ujjawala Sharma as per the instructions of the court. He also is guilty of not accepting Rohit as his son despite knowing that he is his son.
But a woman like Ujjwala is blot on the society. She was a former professor in Delhi and yet accepted this marriage proposal just for the sake of her son. Besides serving as chief minister of UP thrice and Uttarakhand once, Tiwari served as Governor of Andhra Pradesh between 2007 to 2009, when his name figured in a sex scandal and he had to resign. It would have been much better if ND Tiwari had endorsed a condom brand along with Sunny Leone instead of getting married to Ujjwala.
Posting derogatory comments against Sangh Parivar and BJP proved too costly for Amaresh Mishra.
Former journalist and author Amaresh Misra has been arrested by the Lucknow Police for posting offensive comments on social networking site twitter against the Sangh Parivar and followers of Narendra Modi. Amaresh is the script writer of the Bollywood movie Bullet Raja and has authored many books. He also claims to be an ardent supporter of Congress and Dighvijaya Singh’s right hand. A complaint was filed in the month of October, 2013 by Shiv Sena IT cell member Ramesh Solanki against Amaresh Misra at BKC Cyber police station for threatening to kill the Sangh Parivar members and rape any woman who supports the BJP. Mishra’s twitter handle has been suspended after his arrest.
On May 13, Misra had posted derogatory comments against Sanghis and threatened to kill them inviting the ire of the community and netizens.
He tweeted, “In Egypt the army killed 2000 fundamentalists to preserve secularism. We will kill 2 lakh Sanghi’s to save the Indian democracy.”
Another tweet mentioned, “To save democracy all those supporting Right wing forces on twitter will be killed. We will send CRPF to your houses drag you out and shoot.”
In the fray of tweeting even Sanghis were not too behind. Many supporters of Sangh Parivar too began using offensive language on twitter. This list includes the name of people who wrote Narendra Modi’s. Will they too face imprisonment like Misra?
Arrested Amaresh Misra said, “If Sanghi’s attack family (Gandhi Family) without any reason then I being a Sanathan Brahmin will not spare any of them.”
As per the reports, few fake profiles have been created in the name of BJP leaders Nitin Gadkari with an intention to incite violence. On 12th October, 2013 AV had published an lead story about Amaresh Misra’s tweets which mentioned, “I will kill Modi and reward anyone who brings his head.”
Misra tagged the PMO and dared the government to arrest him. He has been raising his voice whenever somebody posts negative comment about his party or its president. He has been aggressively tweeting against Modi and has been using foul language against him.
A case was filed against Mishra at Mumbai in October but no action has been taken against him even though there is concrete evidence against him.
Ramesh Solanki who filed a complaint against Amaresh with the Mumbai Police talking to AV said, “I am happy that finally he has been arrested. I will be more happy if stern action is taken against him.”
Kanchan Karai, a voice over artist who filed a complaint against Amaresh with the Mumbai Police said, “The constitution has granted freedom of speech and expression to every Indian citizen but that doesn’t mean that he can misuse it. I personally has never interacted with him but I saw his tweet which was very provocative. Such people should not be permitted to use social networking sites like twitter. Finally, I am happy that Misra has been sent behind the bars.”
In an AV report published on 12th October, 2013 Amaresh talking to our newspaper expressed his views on his tweets and said, “It all began in February 2013 when I had joined twitter. Sanghi handles were abusing Congress party members and women. Digvijaya Singh and Rahul Gandhi were not spared and Sonia Gandhi was abused profusely. We could have ignored all this; but morale of Congress workers, secular forces and women was being hit!”
AC Malviya from Lucknow Cyber Crime unit said, “Multiple cases were filed against Amaresh. We possess concrete evidence against him.”
BJP president Rajnath Singh said on Wednesday that top leaders would decide on party patriarch LK Advani’s role in the new government if the NDA comes to power at the Centre.
Rajnath was talking to reporters here just before his meeting with BJP’s PM candidate and Gujarat CM Narendra Modi. Other party leaders, Arun Jaitley and Nitin Gadkari are also meeting Modi along with Rajnath.
“We will decide after discussing with all the top party leaders,” he said on being asked as to what would Advani’s role be in the Modi-led government.
He also expressed confidence that the BJP would be able to get a clear majority. However, he added that till the results were officially out, he did not want to say much.
The last day of voting for the Lok Sabha polls was on May 12 and counting of votes is scheduled for May 16.
Most of the exit polls have indicated that the BJP will emerge as the largest party and the NDA will be in a position to form the government.
Meanwhile, earlier today the BJP top brass went into a huddle in the national capital to discuss the possibility of the party forming the government at the Centre and changes in the organisation ahead of counting of votes on May 16. They discussed the possibility of seeking the support of some allies including the BJD, AIADMK and NCP, PTI reported.
Senior BJP leaders held a series of meetings in the capital since morning with Rajnath Singh meeting Sushma Swaraj at her residence here, before she flew to Bhopal. Gadkari also met her today. The meeting lasted around half an hour.
Gadkari is playing an active role in negotiating with groups within the party. He had yesterday met Advani amid speculation about his role in the next government.
Jaitley and Amit Shah also held a meeting at the former’s residence to discuss the situation arising out of exit poll results.
Pakistan has ordered the only two Indian journalists stationed in the country to leave within a week, telling them their visas would not be renewed, a move denounced by India as “a retrograde step.”
Meena Menon of The Hindu newspaper and Snehesh Alex Philip of the Press Trust of India (PTI) news agency were given letters late on Tuesday telling them they must leave Pakistan by May 20.
Both journalists had been posted in Pakistan for less than a year and no reason was given for the decision to deny them new visas. In a statement, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs said,
“free flow of information between India and Pakistan has long been recognised as an important confidence building measure.”
The expulsion of the Indian reporters comes days before the results of India’s general election, which the opposition BJP is expected to win.
Since the 1980s, India and Pakistan have allowed a small number of journalists to work in each others’ capital cities, but there has been no Pakistani reporter in New Delhi since 2010.
“Their visas expired and they were informed that there will not be further extensions,” a Pakistan information ministry official said on condition of anonymity to news agency AFP.
MK Razdan, the editor-in-chief and CEO of PTI, said there was “no rationale and no reason” for the move.
“It is a unilateral action and absolutely no reason has been given,” Mr Razdan said. He added it was too early to say whether the agency would apply to send a replacement for Philip.
The Pakistan government led by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has sought to improve ties with India since its election in May last year.
Indian journalists working in Pakistan have complained in the past of harassment by authorities including constant monitoring by intelligence agents.
Just days before the general election last May, the New York Times correspondent in Pakistan, Declan Walsh, was expelled at short notice with little explanation given.
A new Neurosurgery hospital is going to come up in Jharkhand’s Simdega district after a farmer donated 12 acres of land for this purpose, to doctors who saved his life.
Johan Kullu, provided 12 acres of his land, costing nearly Rs. 1 crore, to doctors for building a hospital.
Kullu’s wife says that if it wasn’t for the doctors, her husband would not have survived, but the hospital that they were forced to go to was very far, which is why they want the hospital built in their locality.
Kullu says that he fell down while travelling on the roof of a bus. The fall lead to serious head injuries. He was in a very critical condition but the doctors of Ispat General Hospital, located in Odisha’s Rourkela, saved his life.
After this Kullu donated 12 acres of his land to the doctors for the purpose of getting hospital built in the district.

The Bombay High Court has asked Central Railway to file a reply to a PIL seeking a direction to re-impose the ban on plastic bags of food items at platforms on suburban network and in local and long-distance trains.
A bench headed by Justice Abhay Oka also asked the Railway authorities to provide sufficient number of dustbins on platforms and posted the PIL for further hearing in June after the vacations.
The lawyer appearing for Central Railway informed the Court last week that they had invited tenders to award the cleanliness work to a contractor to dispose plastic bags found on tracks, platforms and trains.
Besides Central Railway, the other respondents to the petition include the Union of India (Ministry of Railways and Ministry of Environment and Forests), State Government and Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai.
The PIL, filed by Rail Parishad, an NGO of commuters, sought a direction to Central Railway to implement its circular dated May 21, 2012, seeking a ban on plastic bags by the Railway food stalls on platforms.
The petition claimed the circular had been withdrawn on July 2, 2012, after stall owners under the leadership of activist Medha Patkar had organised an agitation against the decision of the Railways to ban plastic bags.
Demanding that the circular be re-introduced again, the PIL said that plastic bags could not be recycled and hence it makes the environment polluted. Even if these plastic bags are burnt, methane gas is produced which is highly hazardous and poisonous.
Instead, the PIL said, paper bags or cloth bags should be used which can keep the environment pollution free. Plastic bags, if dumped, would clog the flow of water in drains but if paper pags were used they are soluble and get dissolved in water.
Plastic bags are bio-degradable and its decomposition takes more than 1,000 years. Petroleum is used to make plastic. However, petroleum products are diminishing and getting more expensive by the day, said the PIL.
The petition urged the High Court to call for reports from the Central Railway and the Mumbai Municipal Commissioner regarding steps taken to collect plastic waste dumped in the drains in view of the forthcoming monsoon.
A court cannot issue non-bailable warrants (NBWs) against defaulters without first adopting other remedies available under law to recover arrears, the Bombay High Court has held while quashing a warrant issued against a man for failing to pay interim maintenance to his estranged wife.
The Nagpur bench of the high court was hearing a petition filed by Sachin Bodhale challenging an April 2 order by a magistrate court issuing non-bailable warrant against him after he failed to pay the maintenance amount to his wife.
Sachin’s wife had lodged a complaint against him under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence (DV) Act. The magistrate had passed an interim order granting monetary relief.
Sachin’s lawyer Sudhir Moharir argued that the magistrate while issuing the non bailable warrant was of the view that under section 28 (2) of the DV Act, the court had the power to adopt any procedure to ensure recovery of the maintenance amount.
Justice M L Tahaliyani was of the view that the there is provision under the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) which states how the amount of maintenance is to be recovered.
“The Magistrate, in my opinion, could not have issued non bailable warrant directly. Under section 421 of CrPC, the magistrate was under obligation to first issue a warrant for levy of the amount by attachment and sale of any movable property. If the amount was recovered by adopting this procedure then the question of putting the defaulter in prison does not arise,” Justice Tahaliyani said.
The court observed that in case the amount was not recovered, then the court could have imposed a sentence on the defaulter as per provision laid down in the CrPC.
“The stage of issuing a non-bailable warrant comes only after sentencing and not before that,” Justice Tahaliyani said while setting aside the magistrate’s order.
