By seeking the help of Bollywood to plant 13 crore trees in the state, the authorities have taken the task of planting trees rather seriously. It is a right step in the right direction. Green Cover initiative assumed greater importance in the present city beautification sector and tree planting takes place as the first step in this direction. Cutting of the trees is observed in paces, where it was an obstruction to the view of street lights, blocking the way of platforms and to curtail tree falling during monsoon season. However, it is not the proper way to sacrifice the trees for private realty projects to come up in the city. In that case, planting of trees must be an ongoing process and there should not be a letdown in the planting of trees in every nook and corner of open space available in the city. Citizen on their part can make a big leap in popularising planting of trees in a big way with road shows and actually planting of trees as some NGOs are doing in a very systematic manner and spread the message of tree planting as a part and parcel of our life. Bollywood can play a positive role in this regard as they have the men and money to complete the task in a big way and in a record time.
