Selena Gomez and The Weeknd are officially over!
The duo, who had been dating for about ten months, have ended their relationship, reported People.
“She and Abel have been going back and forth for a few months about their relationship,” said an insider. “It’s been hard with him being on tour and her shooting in New York. That wasn’t easy on them.”
While Gomez “always made an effort” to attend his shows when she could, “that played a part in them getting distant,” added the insider. “It’s over for now, but they’re still in touch.”
The breakup also hasn’t been easy on the couple. “It’s been hard for them to come to the realisation that this is the direction things were heading, but it’s been hard for months,” continued the insider.
The insider also added that the ‘Bad Liar’ singer and ex Justin Bieber – whom she dated on-and-off from 2011 to 2015 – are not dating even though both of them were spotted spending time together over the weekends.
The 25-year-old singer-actress and the ‘Starboy’ singer first became linked earlier this year, when the duo were spotted sharing a kiss while out on a romantic dinner date.
In followed months, they flaunted their love on social media by sharing loved-up pictures of each other on their Instagram account.
The stars made their official debut as a couple at the Met Gala after a series of romantic outings.
It has been quiet a roller coaster year for Gomez, who revealed in September that the reason she quietly stepped back from her career over the summer was because she was recovering from a kidney transplant.
