Everyone was unaware of the reason Raees’ release was pushed to next year. While celebrating Eid with media yesterday, Shah Rukh Khan talked about the film and revealed why the clash of Sultanand Raees was avoided. Talking about the same, he said “We have two reasons (for not releasingRaees with Sultan). One is, Salman and I have talked about it that big films have their own level release wise. They should get released in at least 3500 to 4000 theatres at one time. We all have faced it at a certain point of time that two big films came together and didn’t get the theatrical release we wanted. The film’s budget, perhaps, can’t afford to not release in 4000 theatres. Until the time we have eight to nine thousand theatres for the release of two big films, this cannot happen.”

Shah Rukh Khan further added, “Second part was, I was injured and there are still body shots and some parts that I still have to shoot for a day. But the film is ready. We thought of an alternate date in this year. But some other big film was coming then. It was like we say from the frying pan into the fire; we would release it from some other film. So, we have discussed with Hrithik (Roshan) forKaabil because they just started shooting. Hopefully, we will come next year on January 25 or 26. We still have time and I haven’t given the last shot yet.”

Directed by Rahul Dholakia, Raees is a story of a bootlegger Raees Khan whose business is challenged by a police officer. The film marks the debut of Pakistani actress Mahira Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays the police officer.
