Slapping Kejriwal is a slap on India’s Constitution!

“Most deserving surgical strike on Kejriwal,” wrote one Twitter user. “This is a STUNT as usual. He loves to get slapped and wants to hold the record for being the Chief Minister the maximum number of times and have his name recorded in The Guinness Book,” wrote another. “@arvindkejriwal again slapped by common man…Well done…Kejriwal deserves much more… #KejriwalKiKutai,” reflected another account. These are the Twitteritis who also criticise the Emergency era, how the democracy of this country is under threat, and whosoever political party is responsible for the same, how election slogans like “Chowkidaar Chor Hai” is derogatory to be used addressing the PM of the country.

On Saturday, while addressing a road show in Moti Nagar, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was assaulted by a man. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal was atop an open jeep when a man wearing a red t-shirt jumped onto the vehicle and slapped the CM. The assaulter has been identified as Suresh, 33, and he was taken into the custody soon after that and an investigation into the matter is underway, as performed by the police.

This article has no intention to be political. While it is not ‘apolitical’ too. Forgetting which party you support or how much Aam Aadmi Party is ideologically against your political party, or which party the assaulter belong to or what might be the reason behind the attack keeping the ongoing Lok Sabha election in mind, think like a citizen of the world’s largest democracy.

Unapologetically, this article is intended to appear as a slap on all those who are celebrating this coward act of slapping a Chief Minister of this country and enjoying themselves in the meme quest. Please make a note that slapping a designated CM of this country is nowhere a proud moment to be celebrated. By that, you are actually denying the existence of the Constitution of this country.

Kejriwal being slapped is a slap on India’s Constitution and the mandate of Delhi people who chose him as the CM. It is disgraceful and it’s sad to see even the political parties and their supporter brigade on social media too are making fun of the incident. Why aren’t talking that the assault on CM Arvind Kejriwal puts a big question on the police administration for their negligence in the security of the CM during a roadshow? Why aren’t we focussing on the democratic system of the vote in and vote out a candidate in case we are unhappy with their services? Have Indians forgotten to act and react democratically?
