Social media and religion

The feeling of pride, while watching the tableau of Shivaji Maharaj’s coronation on Maharashtra Float in the Republic Day Parade, was punctured with the ‘Breaking News’ which spread like wild fire of the arrest of Pune’s (Maharashtra) Sadiya Sheikh in Jammu and Kashmir. She was a student of a well known College of Pune. Two years ago, this girl, who speaks English fluently, was arrested for having contacts with ISIS; was counselled and let off. Thereafter she went missing! This reminds of Ishrat Jahan of Mumbra (Thane, Maharashtra) incident. She had been traced in Gujarat where she had gone to kill the then CM Narendra Modi. Educated youth, both boys and girls, are getting attracted and indoctrinated towards the absconder Zakir Naik, ISIS, and other separatist organisations, through the social media. Channels and sites, which spread poisonous material in the name of religion, should be banned.
