In 2014, Pratyusha @PratsBanerjee had tweeted that “Life is a onetime offer, use it well. ^_^” some two-hundred odd retweets and likes were for that, I was impressed by this young lady, as she used to tweet a lot about life. Exactly after a year in 2015, she tweeted “Never Blame another Person for Your Personal Choices. You Are Still The One Who Must Live Out The Consequences Of Your Choices”. I was little surprised, because this wonderful sole was getting in depression and there were series of such tweet thereafter. But never ever expected that she will end up her life is such brutal manner.

Pratyusha, best-known for playing the lead character of ‘Anandi’ on TV show Balika Vadhu, hanged herself at home and was declared dead at the hospital. She was an Indian television actress. She started her career with Balika Vadhu as ‘Anandi’ which was very successful. She was popularly known as Anandi by her audience. She was also a contestant on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5 and was one of the participants of Bigg Boss 7. She had signed as a host with reality-based crime saga Savdhaan India for the special segment on “women against crime” with Hiten Tejwani and Sushant Singh as co-hosts. She had worked in Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya (TV series) in 2014 and was last seen in Hum Hain Na as the main female lead. She was competing in Power Couple with beau Rahul.  Rahul Raj Singh, who owns a production house, has been in touch with the police and has given them a statement, but many point fingers at him for this tragedy.

The young actress was going through lot of turmoil in life; recently some eight men barged into her house. When she tried to shut the door, they actually started pushing the door; they were very harsh to her. It all started when a car recovery agent, Amit Dalvi, approached the actress’ house on December 31 to collect a monthly instalment. But Dalvi claims, soon after reaching the location, he was beaten up by Pratyusha’s boyfriend Rahul Singh. Following which, he registered a non-cognizable complaint against Rahul. The police however, have refuted the actress’ claims stating that there were only two policemen out of the four people who went to Pratyusha’s house. The policemen were accompanying the group on Dalvi’s request and one of them was the security supervisor of the society.

Hours before the suicide, there was rumour that she was slapped by her boyfriend in mall, in public place. There was home loan, car loan, pending EMI’s, harassment from recovery agents. After huge stardom as Anandi no work further; many reasons and one life. She chose to hang herself. Story ends with all sympathy but she is not one of her kind, this is what is repeatedly happening in film and TV industry. Where will it stop? Bollywood and TV can be a scary place to be. Here they get stardom all of sudden and starve for fame another moment. The glamour and glitz is just a facade.

The suicide of actress Jiah Khan has given us an insight into the loneliness and the trauma the stars suffer. There were many stories surfaced after her death but no conclusion drawn till today. Shikha Joshi, 40-year-old model-turned-actress committed suicide in her home after slashing her neck open with a knife, lack of employment led her to take her own life.

Viveka Babaji, a beautiful model rose to fame with her Kamasutra ad. She committed suicide in the year 2010 by hanging herself from the ceiling fan. Failed career and relationships were cited as reasons for her suicide. Popular supermodel and TV actress Kuljeet Randhawa committed suicide by hanging herself to the ceiling fan. Her suicide note stated that she could not cope with the pressures of life and therefore was ending her life. Nafisa Joseph, former Miss India and TV actress hanged herself in her apartment a few years ago. Her suicide came as a shock because she was just weeks away from her wedding. The former VJ discovered that her husband-to-be was still married when he claimed that he had been divorced for two years. This shocked her and led her to take such a drastic step. The yesteryear sultry actress Parveen Babi was found dead in her apartment in the year 2005. The lonely star who had kept to herself was discovered after neighbours complained that she hadn’t come out to collect the newspaper and milk from her doorstep. Parveen, who was struggling with diabetes, had apparently starved her to death.

This is not limited to female actor actresses or model, but there are cases of men ending up their lives too. Famous producer and director of Indian movies, Manmohan Desai fell to his death from his balcony in 1994. He had made great movies like Amar Akbar Anthony and Dharam Veer, but towards the end of his career his movies were beginning to fail and losing flavour amongst the audience. Kunal Singh, Best known for his role opposite Sonali Bendre in the movie Dil Hi Dil Mein, committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan. Though he was doing well in Bhojpuri and South Indian films, his strained relationship with his wife and the fact that he was not allowed to see his kids were rumoured to be the reasons for his suicide.

This glamorous glittery industry has its dark side too; you never know who will end up with what!
