Hawkers are a part and parcel of our lives and one tends to completely agree with Sachin Tendulkar when he bats for dedicated hawker zones in the city. Hawkers too need to feed their families and also provide cheap goods to people as their overheads are negligible. Hawking zones would generate employment for the poor and regulations would take care of hygiene and traffic woes which the city is facing at the moment.
Hawkers today pay huge bribes and this would stop with dedicated hawker zones that benefit all. Tendulkar’s suggestion do need an urgent hearing and the master blaster who also happens to be an Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha should use his clout and see to it that his demand of regulated hawker zones sees the light of the day!
