Thane launches mobile fair price shop for villages

A mobile fair price shop for the rural areas of Thane district was flagged-off here.

Maharashtra Additional Chief Secretary (Home) and Thane district Guardian Secretary K P Bakshi on Tuesday flagged-off the mobile fair price shop which will tour remote areas of the district and supply goods to the villagers.

The function was held at the collectorate here where District Collector Dr Mahendra Kalyankar, Zilla Parishad CEO Kishore Raje Nimbalkar and District Supply Officer Dr Mohan Naladkar were present.

The mobile shop van will visit a village twice a month and the schedule for Sahapur and Murbad talukas has already been finalised.

Naladkar said the van will visit villages where there are no fair price shops.

It will visit the villages, including Dand, Umbravate, Hinglud, Kalbonde, Chonde and Gandulwad of Sahapur and also Dharkhind, Valhivare, Lotyachiwadai and Thidbi of Murbad talukas.

The ration will be distributed in the presence of village talathi and a member of vigilance committee.

Meanwhile, Bakshi also held a meeting with top officials of the district and reviewed the preparedness for the two crore tree plantation programme scheduled tomorrow in the state.

The district has been given a target of planting 11 lakh trees.

The progress of crop loan distribution, Jal Yukta Shivar and other on-going programmes was also reviewed at the meeting.
