Yusuf Pathan left the cricket fans spellbound with his extraordinary batting and Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Gautam Gambhir says he had only dreamt of such a superlative effort.
Pathan’s whirlwind 22-ball 72-run knock blew away Sunrisers Hyderabad as KKR chased off the 161 run target in 14.2 overs to seal the second place in the points table ahead of the play-offs.
“I have never seen this sort of innings in my career. It was unbelievable hitting, I had only dreamt of it, but I saw it in reality,” Gambhir said after the four-wicket win.
“We wanted to finish it in 15.2 overs, this is what we play cricket for. We didn`t start well up front bowling, we dropped some crucial catches, but this is not the time to talk about negatives, I have never seen such an innings.”
Man of the Match is Yusuf Pathan said it was his best knock in T20s.
“I hit form at the right time. It feels great when the ball hits the middle of the bat and travels a long way. My hundred for Rajasthan was a good knock but I got run-out and we couldn`t win the match, but this time we won, this feels like my best innings,” he said.
SRK skipper Darren Sammy said, “I wish I could hit like that. Credit to Yusuf. Phenomenal hitting. We’ve not been consistently good enough this tournament.”
