It is a matter of great broad minded outlook that saw a transgender student has been admitted to Mumbai University. Having waited for so long the gender disparity is cleared to admit Sridevi and it is a good news. It is notable that the development comes after three years of scrutiny by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and it is a step in the right direction. There may be other such students at Mumbai University but Sridevi is the first to officially enroll as a transgender. It is a positive step in announcing that education is for all and not according caste, creed, religion or transgender category. Kudos to Mumbai University for taking a bold step.
