A 26-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly murdering a person with whom she was in a relationship, police said.
The victim, identified as Tilak Rajput (43), was found unconscious in his car on S V Road in Santacruz around 12.40 AM. He was immediately rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead. There were strangulation marks on his neck, a senior police officer said.
Police said that the accused throttled the businessman in his SUV car and left from the spot. The body was found by the police in the car on the front seat.
During investigation, it was found that Rajput was in a relationship with the woman. She was brought to the police station for interrogation on Monday morning where she confessed to the crime, police said, adding she was arrested.
“Rajput was not ready to end the relationship. They were sitting in the SUV at SV road near LIC office in Santacruz (West) when an argument started between them. In a fit of rage the woman throttled the businessman and left the spot,” said senior inspector
The duo knew each other for last 5 to 6 years. Possibly, some strain in their relationship could be behind the incident, police said.
Involvement of some other persons in the case is not ruled out. Investigation into the case is underway, the police officer said.
