A woman from Yawatmal was arrested by Thane Police on Saturday for allegedly abducting the two-year-old daughter of the man who once stopped her from committing suicide.
As per reports, the 25-year-old accused abducted the minor from Mumbra. However, she has been rescued safely and handed over to her parents.
Identified as Anjali, the accused was stopped from committing suicide by the child’s father on September 29 at 5 AM at Kalyan railway station. She allegedly told him that she had been driven out of her house and had nobody to support her. The man took her to his house in Mumbra where Anjali began to live with the family.
On October 4, the man’s mother asked Anjali to take the girl out and buy her a packet of wafers. Anjali left the house with the girl and allegedly did not return, the police was quoted as saying.
The woman was nabbed on board a train between between Panvel and Kalyan on Saturday. For the mission, a total of six teams of Unit-I of the Crime Branch of Thane police, led by senior inspector Nitin Thakre, were formed.
A case under IPC section 363 (kidnapping) has been registered and further probe is underway, Deputy Commissioner of Police Deepak Deoraj informed agencies.
