An irreparable loss to literature world

This refers to your editorial “Maheshweta Devi’s demise: A loss for the literature world”. Truly, no one in this age can write like her or even read like her. Such was her humility that she never read what she wrote or even remembered how many thousands of books she had published. This is the true greatness of Literature. Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has rightly said, “Mahashweta Devi wonderfully illustrated the might of the pen. A voice of compassion, equality and justice, she leaves us deeply saddened.” A mother of the oppressed an angel to the poor a fighter for the aboriginal Mahasweta Devi will be among us forever. There are very few writers who are capable of narrating – directly – what they experience but Mahasweta Devi was such a writer who routinely described what she witnessed. Really she has made known to the world the sufferings of santhal tribes and other tribal lives in Jharkhand forests including the heroic fight of Birsa Munda.
