By reaching 200 wickets tally in 37 test matches R Ashwin became the first Indian to achieve this feat and just missed the world record by one test. Australia’s Glarrie Grimmette has taken fewer tests to reach this mark. Ashwin’s 6 for 47 in the second innings on his debut test at Delhi is the second best on appearance. Narendra Hirwani returned with better figures in his appearance in test match cricket for India. In three test matches, the Tamil Nadu all-rounder has scored a hundred and taken a five wickets haul and he is the only Indian to achieve this feat. Ashwin is searching for more success and achieve many records in the years to come.

His forte with the ball is that he can open the bowling attack with the new ball and trouble the openers of the opposition from the word go. He can flight and float the ball with regular consistency and hit the deck with accuracy.  His carrom ball is a special one to fox the opposition. Ashwin provides breakthrough for the team when it is needed.  He plays a key role in the scheme of things of skipper Virat Kohli and Ashwin obliges him with his timely performances with both bat and ball.  He is an enigma in the side.
