Beginning with a bang

Rio Olympic games began with a bang and there were lots of expectations from the Indian contingent to perform well at the highest level. Indian players assembled well in time before the events and the tennis events attracted lots of attention. Indian campaign touched a new low as the tennis star Leander Paes and Rohan Bopana lost in their first round men’s doubles encounter with much fight but without hope. The main contender for a medal Leander and his partner could not campaign well as there were less understanding among the duo. Leander jeopardized the chances as they could not combine well in time to put up a show. They lost in straight sets but the second set tie break went rather close but to no avail to the Indian pair. It is time to have rationale thinking when we pick teams for the International team events. Last time also, Leander was in thick of action and the mixed doubles pair with Sania Mirza could not do well in the end. Finally, Olympic games started with a bang but showed little promise to the Indian participants.
