It is indeed a sorry state of affairs that boiler blast at RCF Chembur claimed three lives and injured five persons. Fertiliser factory is prone to blast and adequate security measures ought to have taken at first place preventing major losses. The deafening noise after one of the boilers exploded clearly revealed the intensity of the blast and fear among the people in the neighbourhood. The cause of the fire was due to the maintenance work underway and it surprised the authorities present there. But that is not an excuse as human lives were lost in the blast. Steam generated inside the boiler blew to make it a fatal accident. Boiler blast in RCF opened the eyes of the RCF management to go in a safe way and we hope better council will take place while undergoing maintenance work.
