Congress protests against BJP over Rafale deal

Mumbai Congress organized a rally from Mahalaxmi race course to August Kranti Maidan, Gowalia Tank on Thursday to protest against BJP over the alleged irregularities in the Rafale aircraft deal. The recent controversy on Rafale deal has triggered political war of words between Congress and BJP. Rahul recently had called Prime Minister Narendra Modi as ‘chor’ on Rafale aircraft deal of Indian government with France. The rally was held under the leaderships of Mumbai Congress president Sanjay Nirupam. Former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Sushilkumar Shinde, Suresh Shetty, Mallikarjun Kharge, Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, Husain Dalwai, Anant Gadgil, Madhu Chavan, Sachin Sawant and Dr. Raju Waghmare were present at the rally.

While HAL was to produce 108 fighter jets locally in a joint venture with French firm Dassault Aviation in the deal for 126 Rafael jets that the previous UPA regime had negotiated. The state-owned firm, however, was left out in the deal as the present government signed to buy 36 fighter jets in ‘fly-away’ condition from France. Congress is continuously attacking Modi Sarkar as ‘Choukidar Nahi Bhaagidar’ on the other hand Nirmala Sitaraman had asked Rahul Gandhi to do his homework over Rafale.

When AV spoke to Congress leader and spokesperson Dr. Raju Waghmare he said, “Narendra Modi has indulged in big scam on Rafale deal. Anil Ambani had floated Reliance Defence 10 days before Modi announced Rafale deal. The contract was awarded to Ambani by Modi by flouting norms.”

Congress spokesperson Neela Limaye said, “BJP has cheated the country in a massive manner. PM is not talking a single word about Rafale. Government is not talking about the exact price quoted for purchasing the aircraft. The government had flouted rules by awarding contract to Anil Ambani.”
