Underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, who is believed to be hiding in Pakistan, will attend the wedding of his nephew Alishah Parkar, scheduled to take place in Mumbai on Wednesday, via Skype.

Dawood’s nephew Alishah Parkar will marry Ayesha Nagani, who belongs to the Memon community, on Wednesday morning at Rasool mosque in south Mumbai. The wedding or nikaah will be held with 15 relatives at a mosque. Among those expected to attend is Dawood’s brother, Iqbal Kaskar, who was arrested last year on charges of extortion and assault and was later given bail. A reception will be hosted at Tulip Star hotel in Juhu later in the evening.

Alishah is the son of Dawood’s deceased sister Haseena Parkar, who died two years ago and Ibrahim Parkar who was killed by the Arun Gawli gang in the late 1990s.

Notably, Alishah, who is in the construction business, is Hasina’s only surviving son.

“Police will keep a close watch on the proceedings as there is a possibility of rival gangsters trying to disturb the peace,” a senior police official said. Alishah’s elder brother Danish had died in a road accident in 2006, while his sister Umaira got married in May last year.

Police sources said Dawood is likely to attend the function via ‘Skype’. Mumbai Police’s Crime Branch has asked the anti-extortion cell to keep a hawk-eye vigil on the events.
