Drought situation has affected farm cultivation and the output of Sugar, Cotton and pulses are hit due to the dry situation prevailing in Marathwada. The pity is that the farmers are committing suicides more in Marathwada than in Vidarbha and the situation is alarming. The perched state is reeling under crippling drought across vast swathe of the country. The situation is becoming increasingly grim and it is time to take remedial measures before the position reaches a no hope situation. The State has got a suicide tag and both Congress and BJP failed to address the farmer’s problems in an effective way. Marathwada was the affected this year and both the agriculture ministry and the state government could not improve the situation despite warnings from the metrological department and the experts on agriculture field. Only time tested methods can save the farmers from the hopeless situation. It is now or never situation.
