Encore at Eden Gardens

The renaissance of West Indies cricket saw both the Women’s and the Men’s team annexed the Championship in style and proved to the cricketing world they are a force to reckon with in the shortest form of the game. Women’s Team proved their class and the men’s side provided the substance in an all important game. This is after the junior side of the Caribbean Islands winning the Junior Championship trouncing Team India down under. This year has been really significant for the maroon brigade and they made it clear with authority, steadfast approach and a will to win. Fitting final witnessed one of the most memorable matches at the International level and the most thrilling one in T-20 cricket. England failed to put up a big total but managed to achieve respectability to their total through Joe Root and the mini all-rounder then turned his arm to dismiss two West Indies batsmen, including Gayle in one over he bowled in the beginning with new ball. West Indies struggled thereafter and the final match slipped out of their hand in the middle overs.  Despite losing wickets in the middle overs, the floodgates were opened up after the 16th over and Samuels went berserk with a stroke filled innings. In the final over, it was a breathtaking effort by Brathwaite, who used the long handle with a purpose and hit four mighty sixes and made mockery of a 19 runs asking rate and finished the game in style. Kudos to Sammy’s side for enthralling cricket throughout the World cup T-20. It was encore at the Eden Garden’s Kolkata.
